[CSF dynamics of hydranencephaly].

چکیده
Eighteen infants and children with typical congenital hydranencephaly were studied by pneumoen cephalography, water-soluble contrast ventriculography, and cisternography (radioisotope or metri zamide). Pneumoencephalography and ventriculography suggested that the aqueduct was obstructed or markedly stenotic in all cases. Cisternography demonstrated blocks at the aqueduct and at the level of the basal-ambient cisterns in most cases. These findings support the concept that aqueduct stenosis is an important factor in the hydrocephalic process of hydranencephaly.

Volumetric analysis of cerebrospinal fluid and brain parenchyma in a patient with hydranencephaly and macrocephaly – case report
The aim of this study was to perform for the first time the intracranial volumetric analysis of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and brain parenchyma in the supratentorial and infratentorial space in a 30-year-old female patient with hydranencephaly and macrocephaly. A head scan performed using a 3T magnetic resonance was followed by manual segmentation of the brain parenchyma and CSF on T2 coronal br...
متن کاملChoroid plexus coagulation for pediatric hydrocephalus: review of historical aspects and rebirth
This study aims to review historical aspects and rebirth of the endoscopic choroid plexus coagulation (CPC) for pediatric hydrocephalus. The first CPC procedure goes back to early 1930s. After the development of other treatment methods and the understanding of CSF dynamics, the application of CPC dramatically decreased by 1970s. In 2000s, there was a rebirth of CPC in combination with endoscopi...

Kuhlenbeck and Globus ('36) described a case of Arhinencephaly with eversion of the forebrain of an infant four days after birth. Kuhlenbeck, Hafkesbring and Ross ('59) made some observations on a living decorticate hydranencephalic child. Their findings indicated a growth disturbance of the forebrain. Kuhlenbeck, Maher, Ross and Eastwood ('57) made some comments, with anatomical and clinical o...
متن کاملHydranencephaly: Considering Prolonged Survival and Treatment by Endoscopic Choroid Plexus Coagulation.
Arachnoid collapse is a previously unreported complication of endoscopic choroid plexus coagulation (ECPC) treatment of hydranencephaly and is demonstrated in this case report. The variable anatomy found in hydranencephaly supports the use of ECPC as the preferred treatment option. However, the same anatomical anomalies predispose the procedure to this unique complication. A brief literature re...
